Born in Hokitika, Marlene is a proud fourth generation ‘West Coaster’. Alan arrived in South Westland in 1972, having moved from Timaru to help his parents run the Franz Josef Motor Camp. He liked the area so much that he stayed for six years until, together with Marlene, he moved to Fox Glacier in 1978. There Marlene worked as a flight clerk for Mount Cook Ski Planes then for Heli Services, a helicopter maintenance company.
For seven years Alan and Marlene owned and managed a motel in the Fox Glacier before deciding to establish an entirely new accommodation business – High Peaks Hotel. They are a ‘hands-on’ couple and do most of the work themselves.
Come in and injoy the West Coast hospitality.
